PRESIDENT Joko Widodo inaugurated a new
airport and developed four airport terminals, all of which were built on
Sulawesi Island. The inauguration was centered at the Syukuran Aminuddin Amir
Airport, Luwuk sub-district, Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi, also ended a
series of President’s working visits to Sulawesi on Sunday (12/23/2018).

One of the newly built and inaugurated airports
is Morowali Airport in Central Sulawesi. While the four airport terminals that
were inaugurated were the Syukuran Aminuddin Amir airport terminal in Central
Sulawesi, the Haji Aeropala Selayar airport terminal and the new Lagaligo-Bua
airport terminal in South Sulawesi, and the Betoambari airport terminal in
Southeast Sulawesi.

For people in Sulawesi alone, the increase in
transportation options is expected to connect them with their brothers and

people here, in Central Sulawesi Province, to get to know their brothers in
Wamena (Papua), Yahukimo (Papua), and Bener Meriah in Aceh, “he said.

For information, the newly completed Morowali
airport this year was erected on an area of
​​158
hectares and is equipped with a 1,500 meter runway and 1,000 square meters of
passenger terminal facilities. This airport is located in Umbele Village,
Bumiraya District, Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi.

The construction of the new airport further adds
the connectivity of Morowali Regency to big cities such as Kendari, Palu and
Makassar. Before the existence of this airport, local people had to take land
and sea routes to other cities.
