A NUMBER OF Residents in the evacuation shelter claimed to
have saturated and rejected the relocation of residents’ houses, especially the
coastal areas.

Because the livelihoods of the people as fishermen
are threatened to be lost due to the relocation of residents to areas far from
the coast.

After approximately six months in the
post-disaster evacuation post 28 September, residents of the Lere village in
West Palu sub-district claimed to be bored and did not want to be relocated far
from the coast.
“If possible, honestly, we are very bored in
the tent, the conditions are very hot and far from feasibility. In addition, we
will be moved to Tondo far from the sea. Our lives are only fishermen,”
Andika, a refugee resident of Kampung Lere said on Monday (25 / 3/2019)

This saturation arises due to the condition of the
place which is considered to be inadequate, then the limited facilities of the
residents, plus the loss of activity of some people who on average work as
traditional fishermen who have been their daily profession.

Residents refuse to be relocated, because the
problem of living space on average works as fishermen. According to residents,
whatever happens whether it’s the threat of high waves or the red zone, we
accept them to stay in the location where they work.

Of the 215 refugee camps consisting of 13 blocks
and around 800 people who live in refugee camps at this time, some have not yet
received employment to meet the needs of their families. This is certainly the
duty of the state in accordance with the applicable rules.

“Around 50 percent of us residents in the
refugee camps have not yet got a permanent job, and another 50 percent have
worked as construction workers and then there are also residents who have
started to go to sea even with makeshift equipment,” Andika explained.

Meanwhile, the refugees in the Balaroa village
also wanted the same thing so that they would not be relocated far from any
other place in the Tondo area because many residents searched the Inpres
market.
According to the residents a number of options
that developed the construction of permanent shelters include the Tondo area
and in Duyu, not far from the Gawalise stadium.

“We hope the government will build Huntap not
far from the market location of the Presidential Instruction, because there are
many people who sell on the market,” said Rahma, a Balaroa refugee
resident.**
