Hoax Creator of Morowali Demo on Foreign Workers, Arrested

THE POLICE Arrested creators as well as buzzer hoax
demonstrations of foreign workers (TKA) in Morowali, Central Sulawesi (Central
Sulawesi). Suspect with the initials IDN (23), a resident of Bogor, West Java.

“The Morowali hoax was viral on social media,
the contents of the hoax mentioned a foreign national demonstration. After

IDN,” said the Head of the Community Information Bureau (Karo Penmas)
Police Public Relations Division Brigadier General Dedi Prasetyo in Tribrata

IDN, according to the police, made a narrative on social media with the

IDN was caught on Jalan Utama Raya Number 41, RT 9
RW 2, Cengkareng Barat, West Jakarta, at 16.00 WIB, Tuesday (1/29). Dedi said
IDN’s modus operandi was to spread video demonstrations of local workers
through a Facebook account.

“The narrative of foreign workers from China
behaves arbitrarily and is paid more than local residents,” said Dedi.

The police ensnared the IDN with Article 14
paragraph (2) and/or Article 15 of Act Number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal
Code.
Batagor Seller
The police called the creators and buzzers hoax
demonstrations of foreign workers (TKA) in Morowali, Central Sulawesi, their
daily life being batagor sellers. The perpetrator with the initials IDN (23)
claimed to make a hoax to create noise.

“The work of batagor traders. For suspects,
arrests and detention are carried out,” said Dedi.

“(Motive) makes noise on social media. He
makes narratives, takes photos and uploads on Facebook and seems to be carrying
out demonstrations by foreign citizens in Morowali,” said Dedi.

The police asked the public not to be easily
affected by hoaxes. Dedi said that the number of TKA in Morowali was only 10
percent of the number of migrant workers. TKA working in Morowali only operates
technology on national strategic industrial projects.

“So that people are not easily provoked by
issues that are not true and are not easy to believe in misleading news. It is
impossible for the government to deceive its people. All development is carried
out transparently and can be tested for truth,” explained Dedi.**
