‘Not yet trampled on Palu if not yet to Jembatan
Kuning. ‘

IT IS Often addressed to visitors to the city of
Palu.
Even the third curved bridge in the world is often
the location of photos for the people of Palu City and tourists. In fact, at a
certain moments, the route to Bridge IV is always closed, because it is one of
the most crowded locations.
But the 7.4 SR earthquake followed by the tsunami
on the coast and two areas of liquefaction in Palu City, on September 28, 2018,
has demolished this bridge.
The Palu IV Bridge, also known as the Jembatan Kuning
because of its yellow-dominant color, is planned to be rebuilt by the Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The discussion of development has been discussed
in a closed meeting between JICA and the Mayor of Palu, Hidayat in the working
room of the Mayor of Palu, Tuesday (2/4/2019), as reported by the Public
Relations of the City Government of Palu.
“As a first step for JICA representatives,
Mr. Jumichi Fukushima who was accompanied by the Head of the Central Sulawesi
Disaster Management Task Force, Ari Setiadi M, explained that as the initial
step the construction of the hammer IV bridge was the design master,” said
Palu City Public Relations Head Yohan Wahyudi.
According to him, the Mayor of Palu, Hidayat on
the occasion welcomed the JICA plan and program.
“The Mayor hopes that coordination and
confirmation must always go on. So that everything can be done as expected
together, “Yohan said.
From the results of the presentation of JICA and
the Central Sulawesi Disaster Management Task Force, the planned construction
of the IV bridge is still in the previous position. Because, based on the
results of a study by JICA, the bridge collapsed not because it was passed
through a fault of the Palu-Koro Fault as long as it was reported.
“It turns out, based on the results of JICA’s
study, which resulted in the IV Bridge collapsing, purely due to earthquake
shocks. According to them (JICA), the collapse was purely due to the lack of
strong bridge construction. Not as reported so far if the bridge is crossed by
a fault,” explained Yohan.
Regarding bridge design, he said, it was estimated
that it had not changed significantly. It’s just that, there are additional
designs and reinforcement on the pillars that are further strengthened.
“The model is still the case first. The least
has changed. “It is based on the presentation in the meeting,” he
said.
Nevertheles, there is no known yet the budget
requirement for the construction of Bridge IV.
