THE HIGH Rainfall in the last few days has caused flooding to soak a number of
villages in the North Morowali District (Morut), Central Sulawesi Province, on
Thursday (6/20/2019).

As a result, access to the main Trans-Sulawesi road in the area is
paralyzed and cannot be passed by both two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles.

The information that was gathered was stated, the floods inundated the
Trans Sulawesi Line precisely in Wawaponda Village and Karompeli Village, Lembo
District, North Morowali.

The flood caused by the overflowing of the Tambaloko River also
submerged a number of villages including Korompeli Village, Ronta Village and
Pontangoa Village, Lembo District.

In fact, flooding also caused the Patangoa bridge in Lemboraya to break
up. As a result, a number of vehicles cannot cross the road.

The height of water that reaches the waist of an adult, makes the local
people have to flee to a higher place.

“Until now, water is still rising,” said Dodi, a Morut
resident contacted from Morowali.
It was also known that the flood inundated the bridge between Beteleme
and Nuha. As a result, access to the road cannot be passed.

Monitoring on location, a number of vehicles broke down due to the
driver desperate to cross the flood inundation.

A number of two roa vehicles were also forced to load by boat to be
able to cross the floodwaters.
It is known that the flood also inundated the bridge connecting
Beteleme and Nuha, connecting access to South Sulawesi.

Meanwhile, the Morowali Post Basarnas temporarily coordinated with the
BPBD regarding the handling of the impact of the flood.**
