Not Getting a Quota of Porridge Patient’s Family Raffled In Morowali Hospital

One more complaint and uncomfortable event occurred at the Morowali Regional Public Hospital (RSUD), precisely on Wednesday (24/05/2017).

Starting from one of the patients from Lafeu Village, Bungku Pesisir Sub-district who had been treated for 3 days due to miscarriage of his content which has been more than 4 months old, Arifah had to get four blood donor bags.

On Wednesday, he was declared the doctor was allowed to go home on the unspecified day. Heavy rain that hit Bungku region since early morning, they also cannot leave the hospital because they still have to find a car ride.

After lunch, the nutritionist will give him lunch, but the midwife who was picket in the nifas room said that Arifa should not be able to eat lunch because it has been discharged back by the doctor, and is in accordance with the procedure at the hospital.

The patient also pleaded with the midwife to keep giving him that only a handful of porridge to him for having felt very hungry for not being able to eat rice. But the midwife still insisted not to give the lunch, which in the end the nutrition officer brought back his food.

Rais, the husband of the patient who knew it, returned from buying something, got angry and rampaged in the guardroom while looking for a midwife who forbade to give food to his wife. There had been a battle with the midwife who was on guard that resulted in the whole room to see the incident. Even the hospital security also came to intercede.

“If my service is thankfully pretty good, but my wife was shaking from  hunger but not given any quota of porridge when it was begging, very barbaric and inhumane midwife who forbid, this is heavy rain, I just want to find a rental car to go home, but because of hunger, the period ‘again should see the procedure, there cannot be a policy would want to feed the patient just a handful of porridge. If there is no heavy rain, we’ve come home from earlier, and doctors do not specify what time to leave home for Sick, that is important today. ” He said.

One other midwife even told the family that they were used to being criticized but they were still working as usual. Rais said that the incident does not happen again to other patients, and the hospital put forward the humanity rather than the procedure which this is only food distribution. **
