KAILIPOST.COM,- SULTENG- SCHOOL Based seismograph programs are expected to assist communities in reducing the impact of disasters. Senior scientist disaster risk management from GNS Science New Zealand, Michele Daly, expressed this when met after the opening of training activities and installation of school-based seismograph at SMAN Madani Palu, Tuesday (06/03/2018). “So this seismometer in school (SIS) builds the curiosity of teachers and students about Palu-Koro’s threats, and ties them into the school context,” says Michele.
Teachers and students will relate it to the science lessons taught in school.
After getting the training hopefully, the students can share their knowledge with the community about what to do before, momentarily and after the earthquake. “Because students have received materials on the principle of disaster risk reduction in schools, as well as the important role of all elements of the school in building preparedness,” she added.
