compensation fund

DURING A Work visit and a review of post-disaster recovery in Central
Sulawesi in late January, Vice President Jusuf Kalla promised that on early
February compensation funds would be disbursed.

JK said that each of the heirs of the victims who died from the
disaster would get Rp15 million.

Unfortunately, until this March the funds had not been realized. Hence,
at a meeting with the Governor of Central Sulawesi at the Vice President’s office
on Monday (3/18/2019) JK rebuked Governor Longki Djanggola because there was
always the verification.

Chairman of the Pasigala Disaster Debtor Forum, Andono Wibisono
questioned JK’s attitude. As if this is the work of the provincial government.

“Funds if there are immediately disbursed because for the victims
why should they linger. This is an emergency fund. What are you waiting for?
Where is the problem? It’s been six months to say next week, next week. The
Vice President must reprimand Jakarta not the region, because the central
equipment is also involved in the process of data collection and assessment,
‘said Andono Wibisono.

It was known, at a meeting at the Vice President’s Office on Monday,
Vice President Jusuf Kalla instructed that compensation funds for the heirs of
the dead victims of the earthquake, tsunami and liquefaction in Central
Sulawesi must be paid in stages at the latest this weekend.

“The Vice President’s order, at the latest on Friday this week,
must be paid for grief compensation, so far, which has been verified by 1,906
out of 4,000 heirs, that will be (distribution) through the Ministry of Social
Affairs,” Central Sulawesi Governor Longki Djanggola said after the
meeting.
Longki said the Vice President’s instruction was intended so that the
heirs of the disaster victims in Central Sulawesi would not wait too long until
the verification process was completed.
Moreover, he added, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) also
participated in conducting assessments and verification of heir data, so that
it was an obstacle to channel compensation funds.

“The Vice President said that I always verify. So Mr. Doni
(Monardo) is not unbelieving, but he is more convinced that it is verified
again with existing data. He (Doni Monardo) even there are task forces, there
are three colonels stationed there “to help with assessment and
verification,” Longki explained.
In the meeting, the Vice President also called Finance Minister Sri
Mulyani, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono,
Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Sofyan Djalil.***
