PALU

Government commence officially a shelter or housing for residents of Lere
Village victim of  tsunami, on Saturday
(12/22/2018).

The intermediate housing located on Diponegoro
Street in West Palu is an aid from the Mercy Malaysia organization. Palu Government
appreciated and thanked Mercy Malaysia for its concern for the tsunami victims
in Lere Village, especially those whose homes were lost in waves, and who had
been living in the refugee camps.

“The inauguration of the shelter is intended to
provide a shelter which is relatively more feasible for the victims of natural
disasters, rather than living in tents. Palu Government will try to build the
next phase of shelters that can be carried out according to the planned deadline,
“said Mayor of Palu, represented by the Head of the Regional Disaster Management
Agency (BPBD) of Palu, Presby Tampubolon.

The inauguration of the shelter was also attended
by Vice President of Mercy Malaysia, Datin Raja Reza, business affairs
representative, Sime Darby Plantation, Sime Darby Foundation, Haji Mohammad
Helmy Othman Basha and also appointed the shelter administrators and
coordinators.

The government hopes that the community can work
together to maintain and utilize various facilities at the shelter
appropriately since the effort is directly proportional to efforts to maintain
and manage the environment, let it be in cleanliness, beauty and creativity
around the residential areas.

“Therefore, all parties can mutually enhance
understanding among fellow members, avoid the smallest possible potential
conflicts between neighbors, hopefully the life experience in this residence
can teach us to share with each other sincerely,” hoped the Mayor.**
