EDUCATION Sector received a severe blow from the earthquake and tsunami, especially in Palu, Donggala, Sigi and Parigi Mutong. The Ministry of Education and Culture has also built an emergency class.
One of them was SDN 21 Palu which after seven months after the emergency class disaster was built and even then it was not feasible to say the class because it was made of bamboo walls.
The Education and Culture Office of Palu City has swiftly replaced the walls and roof of the school tarpaulin with straw boards and roofs. Because it is suspected that weathered bamboo dust has endangered the health of students and teaching staff.
Amid the difficult situation of management, PT. Tri Media Kaili Post tapped generous hearts by initiating educational donations.
On Tuesday (4/23/2019) the results of the donation have been submitted directly to the school manager. Acting Head of SDN 21 Palu, Sunarti revealed that the donations given would be used to fix infrastructure in the emergency class at the school she leads.
“Even though the damaged school is planned to be rebuilt. But we will fix this emergency class for the convenience of students to follow the teaching and learning process, ” she said.
She admitted that before the bamboo wall was replaced, the students did not feel at home and did not concentrate on participating in KBM.
“Alhamdulillah, with assistance from the Disdikbud of Palu City, our class is pretty good and the students are quite comfortable. And we will continue to improve this situation in the future,” she admitted.
Previously reported, as many as 206 students of class I to VI SDN 21 were forced to study in emergency schools with the condition of tarpaulins and walls made of woven bamboo like cattle pens.
When it rains, the practical teaching and learning activities at the school have to be stopped. The emergency school that was built since 6 months ago is more like a shack than a school building.
Weathered bamboo walls currently endanger the health conditions of students. So far there have been three students who have to be hospitalized, some of which are caused by dust that has been blocked. Students also use masks while studying.
Not only has an impact on health conditions, the process of teaching and learning activities (KBM) also cannot run optimally. **
