BOARD of OJK Commissioners for Internal Audit and Risk Management, Drs Ahmad Hidayat Akt.CA. MBA, directly inaugurated Head of OJK for Central Sulawesi Province Gamal Abdul Kahar, located at the Housing Building of Central Sulawesi Province on Monday, 10 December 2018.

In his remarks, Board of Commissioners Ahmad Hidayat expected the new
Head of OJK of Central Sulawesi Province to continue in improving the synergies with relevant stakeholders in order to strengthen the supervision of financial service institutions and consumer protection.

Ahmad also gave a special message to OJK Central Sulawesi Office and
financial service industry players to be able to take strategic initiatives in
order to assist the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government in the context of
rehabilitation and reconstruction in the aftermath of natural disasters that hit Palu, Donggala, and Sigi. “OJK and financial service industry players play
a crucial role in the context of economic recovery efforts in Central Sulawesi Province. Therefore, OJK will continue to be proactive in order to accelerate the recovery of the business sector,” he said.

Based on OJK data, the credit or financing affected by natural disasters in Central Sulawesi Province amounted to 24,939 Debtors with an outstanding of Rp.4,275 trillion. For this reason, OJK has issued a regulation on special treatment for customers of the financial services industry through a
restructuring mechanism as an effort to ease the burden on customers affected by natural disasters.

The Governor represented by the Economic and Public Administration Assistant Dr. Ir Bunga Elim Somba MSc expressed his gratitude for the contribution of OJK and financial service industry players in the process of rehabilitation and reconstruction in the aftermath of natural disasters.

The Governor congratulated on the inauguration of Gamal Abdul Kahar as
the new head of the Financial Services Authority of Central Sulawesi Province. The Governor hopes that this position can be carried out with integrity and professionalism and can have a positive impact on the development of Financial Services in Central Sulawesi.

The Governor also expressed his gratitude to Muhammad Syukri Andi Yunus for his service as head of OJK from April 2016 to November 2018. The Governor also expressed his appreciation for OJK’s efforts to increase the financial literacy and inclusion in the province of Central Sulawesi. This appreciation is based on the records in 2016 that the literacy index was in the position of 22.55% and the inclusion index was in the position of 65.09%.

This figure is much higher than in 2013 where the literacy index was only 4% and the inclusion index was at 30%. Seeing the rampant illegal investment in Central Sulawesi, OJK also showed its seriousness in handling
illegal investments through coordination with law enforcement agencies and other agencies to form an investment alert task force.

Furthermore, the Governor conveyed Central Sulawesi in particular for
Palu, Sigi and Donggala which got hit by the disaster in the form of tsunami
and liquefaction earthquake on September 28, 2018. The magnitude of the impact caused by the disaster certainly greatly affected the economy in Central Sulawesi with so much struggle and effort which must be done by parties involved in the business world in Central Sulawesi including financial service institutions to continue to survive post-disaster.

The Governor also expressed his positive appreciation for the OJK’s policy concerning the provision of special treatment for banking credit and
Islamic finance for debtors or projects located at natural disaster sites,
namely Palu, Donggala and Sigi with reference to POJK 45/POJK.03/2017
